Above is a sample of a Tax Warrant Letter

When a past due liability exists, the Department of Revenue (https://www.in.gov/dor/) will forward the warrant to the county sheriff and the individual will receive notification from the sheriff indicating the amount owed on the liability.

Disputing the Amount

If you wish to dispute the amount owed, contact the Indiana Department of Revenue at (317) 232-2240.

Making a Payment

You may pay the tax warrant in full or set up a payment plan through the sheriff’s office.

You can make a tax payment in the following ways:

*Include the warrant number on your money order. A receipt will be mailed back to you.

  • Bring a money order to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office during normal business hours

  • Make a cash payment at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. You will need to bring the exact amount of payment, as we are unable to make change.
